KCTC Open House Scheduled

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Kent Career Tech Center will be open to the public February 5 and 6 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in two neighboring buildings including a dedicated space for Advanced Manufacturing.  The Tech Center offers a range of beginning to in-depth career-focused educational opportunities.

“We’re excited to welcome people into our programs to see the high-tech labs in action, meet our students and our outstanding instructors,” said Kent Career Tech Center Principal Craig Weigel. “The Tech Center’s variety of options give students real-life, real-learning opportunities in a wide range of career pathways, plus real world experience with business, industry and higher education partners.”

Kent Career Tech Center offers nearly 30 unique programs and career pathways for high school juniors and seniors to get hands-on experience while having opportunities to earn free high school, technical school and college credit. Each program prepares students for success in career and college, with many opportunities to earn professional certifications. 

The Tech Center’s Advanced Manufacturing space includes high-tech, state-of-the-art labs where students experience hands-on learning in Welding, Engineering, Precision Machining and Mechatronics. Programs from Health Careers to Automotive, Hospitality, Teacher Academy, IT and Agriscience are also available to students, along with exploration and introductory courses in industrial technology, business services and general vocational skill development.

The public is invited to explore the labs and programs in Kent Career Tech Center’s two buildings and meet instructors and current students at their Open House, February 5 and 6 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Both Tech Center buildings are located on Kent ISD’s main campus at 1655 East Beltline NE and 1800 Leffingwell NE in Grand Rapids.

An open house for the Kent Career Tech Center's Aviation Program takes place on Feb. 12 at the Gerald R. Ford International Airport hanger at 4958 Van Laar Dr, Grand Rapids, MI 49512 from 5 - 7 p.m.
