Auto Tech Students Explore Career Opportunities with Fox Motors

On November 14, 2024, Kent Career Tech Center’s (KCTC) Auto Tech program students had the unique opportunity to visit Fox Motors’ Technician Training Center and Fox Honda Dealership for an immersive field trip. This initiative allowed students to explore potential career paths within the automotive industry while gaining first-hand insights into the operations of a leading automotive company.

The field trip featured a comprehensive tour of Fox Motors’ state-of-the-art technician training facility and dealership. During the visit, students learned about various career opportunities within Fox Motors, including automotive maintenance, sales, management, and customer service. Representatives from Fox Motors emphasized the company's commitment to supporting future professionals in the industry through mentorship, training, and employment opportunities.  To encourage immediate engagement, students were allowed to apply for short-term externships and paid internship positions directly on-site.

For several years, Fox Motors has been a pivotal partner of KCTC’s Auto Tech program, bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world application. This partnership includes:

  • Short-Term Externships: First-year Auto Tech students gain hands-on experience in Fox Motors' facilities, offering a glimpse into the day-to-day operations of the automotive industry.
  • Long-Term Internships: Second-year students participate in paid internships, developing practical skills while contributing to the company.
  • Full-Time Employment: Fox Motors has extended full-time career offers to KCTC Auto Tech graduates, providing opportunities to attend their training center to become certified technicians. During this training, students are employed full-time and earn wages while completing their certification.

Each year, Fox Motors provides over 20 unique opportunities for students in the KCTC Auto Tech program. These initiatives demonstrate the company’s dedication to nurturing the next generation of automotive professionals.

“This collaboration with Fox Motors gives our students a competitive edge as they prepare for their future careers,” said Gregg Isenhoff, a representative of KCTC. “The combination of real-world experience, training, and mentorship equips them with the skills and confidence needed to thrive in the automotive industry.”

Fox Motors’ ongoing partnership with KCTC exemplifies the power of industry and education working together to build pathways for student success.
